The Dingwall SP1 5-String demonstrates how a classic bass design can be combined with the innovative ideas for which Sheldon Dingwall is known worldwide. Inspired by the familiar P/J configuration but featuring Dingwall’s signature multiscale construction, the SP1 offers an exceptionally comfortable playing experience and perfectly balanced string tension across all five strings. The alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard form a proven combination that provides a powerful, clear foundation, while the striking Gloss Ducati Pearl White finish and characteristic pickguard give the instrument a contemporary look.

The multiscale scale length of 32 to 35 inches ensures that the low B string remains tight and defined, while the higher strings feel smooth and are effortlessly playable. The passive electronics consist of a Dingwall Dual-P pickup in the neck position and an FD3n pickup at the bridge, controlled via a master volume, master tone, and the versatile 4-way Quad-Tone switch. This puts both a classic Precision-style punch and a modern, articulate bridge sound, as well as various combined positions, within reach, making the SP1 feel at home in virtually any musical style.

The SP1 is also uncompromising in terms of hardware. The Minimalist bridge, Graph Tech Black TUSQ nut, and lightweight open gear contribute to excellent tuning stability, accurate intonation, and high playing comfort.
