This 1974 model has gained considerable experience and is a true player-grade bass!

As one of the two prominent basses in Fender's catalog, the Jazz Bass is a familiar sight in the music world. The Jazz Bass was introduced by Fender in 1960 as the Deluxe Bass, and this was reflected in features borrowed from the Jazzmaster. The bass was eventually renamed Jazz Bass because Fender believed the narrow neck would appeal primarily to jazz musicians.

The bass features a transparent-finished ash offset body with a white pickguard and two single-coil pickups, of which the bridge pickup has been rewound. The single-coil pickups sound full and fat and can be controlled with separate volume controls and a master tone knob. The two outer CTS potentiometers date from the last week of 1973, with a CTS potentiometer from 1974 in between.

The maple neck features a rosewood fingerboard with binding and mother-of-pearl block inlays, and the bass was fitted with a new nut at some point. Another notable detail is that Fender's instruments from the 70s are typically characterized by the 3-point neck attachment, but the traditional 4-point attachment is visible on this bass. Fender switched to the new system late in 1973, but the construction of this Jazz Bass would logically have started before this time.

Unfortunately, the bass is no longer in optimal condition, but it is certainly perfectly playable. The neck has a curvature that has created a slight bulge on the treble side, and the neck has been aligned as well as possible using a shim in the neck pocket. Furthermore, we see signs of wear and dents that you would expect from a well-played bass from the 70s!
