Fender Stratocaster Hardtail Sunburst 1979

The 1970s were an interesting era for Fender. Following the massive success of the previous decade, CBS looked to increase production efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs. Even so, plenty of great instruments came out of this period, and this late 1970s Stratocaster is a fine example.

With its large headstock, ash body and sunburst finish, this Stratocaster has all the visual character associated with the era. The finish shows clear signs of extensive use, giving the guitar plenty of honest vintage wear.

The original trio of single coil pickups remains in place, delivering the familiar chime, bite and clarity associated with Fender's sound from this period. The potentiometers have been replaced, with the original potentiometers included in the case, while the bridge saddles have also been replaced. A previous owner had added a switch near the volume control, which has since been removed.

Despite its extensive playwear and replaced components, this Stratocaster is in very good condition overall and remains a highly playable and characterful vintage Fender. It comes in a gig bag with a TFOA Passport.
