Gibson Custom L20 Parlor Natural 2014

The Gibson L20 is a tribute to the elegant parlor and concert guitars with which Gibson made a name for itself in the 1920s and 1930s. This 2014 model is based on the iconic Nick Lucas models from that era and combines a compact body with a surprisingly deep soundbox, producing an impressively big and resonant sound. The guitar was hand-built at Gibson's factory in Bozeman, Montana, and distinguishes itself through its high-quality construction featuring a solid Sitka spruce top and solid Mystic Rosewood back and sides.

Despite its compact size, the L20 delivers a remarkably mature sound. The combination of Mystic Rosewood and Sitka spruce provides rich bass response, clear highs, and a fast response that will appeal especially to fingerstyle players, while light strumming also comes into its own. The mahogany neck with a comfortable V-profile, rosewood fingerboard, bone nut and saddle, and gold-plated Schaller tuners complete the package. The guitar was fitted with an LR Baggs pickup by Gibson, but unfortunately, this is no longer present in this guitar.

This 2014 Gibson L20 is a particularly rare find. Only a small number of examples of this version were produced, meaning it hardly ever appears on the market. The guitar has a few small dings on the top, body, and bindings, along with a few small scratches on the back of the body. Furthermore, we see discoloration in the lacquer around the soundhole due to a mounted soundhole pickup. On the headstock, discoloration in the lacquer can be found on the front and back, likely the result of a clip-on tuner. Nevertheless, the guitar is well-maintained and very clean, and is an inspiring instrument that is a valuable addition for any Gibson enthusiast.
