This 1946 Gibson ES150 is an important piece of guitar history and belongs to the first series released after World War II featuring the legendary P90 pickup. With its large 17-inch body and beautiful original finish, this is a rare example that marks the transition between Gibson's pre-war and post-war production.

The Gibson ES150 electric guitar holds a special place in the company's history, as it was one of the first successful guitars in the ES line, also known as the Electric Spanish series. Although production of the ES150 began in 1936, it was halted during World War II and re-released in 1946 with a number of redesigned pickups. The most significant change was the addition of a P90 pickup in place of the earlier bar pickup, also known as the 'Charlie Christian' pickup. The body also gained a substantial size of 17 inches, and a silkscreen logo appeared on the headstock instead of the earlier mother-of-pearl version.

This 1946 ES150 is in excellent condition and has retained its original finish, which has developed a stylish crackle over the years. A crack in the bass side of the body has been repaired, and the bass side wing of the headstock has been re-glued. Furthermore, the tuning machines have been replaced and a refret was performed at some point. Otherwise, the guitar is original, from the pickguard, bridge, and tailpiece to the electronics. The P90 pickup delivers a warm, full tone characteristic of these early Gibson electrics, and the large body ensures rich resonance and an acoustic sound.

The C-profile mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard offer a comfortable playing experience, while the 645 mm scale length ensures sufficient string tension. This guitar is not only a collector's item but also an excellent playable vintage electric guitar that brings the sound of the 1940s to life. This guitar has aged beautifully, and that is reflected in the sound, which is dry, full, and complex. With its exceptionally beautiful vintage condition and character, this ES150 is a valuable addition for the collector and a delight for the player. A rare opportunity to get your hands on an authentic post-war Gibson ES150!

The guitar comes in a vintage case that has seen better days. The lining on both the outside and the inside is partially deteriorated or loose, and the handle has been replaced. The lock is defective, but the other latches are functional.
