Gibson Margo Price J45 Heritage Cherry Sunburst 2024

The music of the multi-award-winning artist Margo Price transcends the boundaries of traditional country, Americana and classic rock. Her Gibson J45 acoustic guitar has been by her side throughout her rise to becoming one of country music’s leading artists.

Gibson Custom’s Margo Price J45 embodies the spirit, vision and talent that propelled Margo to stardom, while continuing Gibson’s tradition of nature-inspired designs. The Margo Price J45 is inspired by her mid-’60s J45, which she describes as “my main baby; my guitar I play all the time.” It features a slightly thinner mahogany body with a red spruce top and traditional hand-scalloped Advanced X-bracing, a mahogany neck with a rounded profile and rosewood fingerboard, and Grover tuners with white buttons. The Margo Price J45 is also equipped with L.R. Baggs electronics, making it ready for both studio and stage, straight out of its included hardshell case.

Margo was also inspired by red-tailed hawks, which feature prominently on the distinctive double 1950s-style pickguards of her new signature guitar. As Margo explains:

“Red-tailed hawks have always been symbolic for me. I see them everywhere, and I always have, because they’re found all over the United States. But to me, they’re otherworldly, and they always come to me in times of need with messages of strength and perseverance. Red, as a colour, is associated with love, passion and even anger, things we normally associate with the heart. But if you look closely, the tips of their feathers are dipped in white, and the bird itself has a spiritual nature. When I’m on long road trips, I look out the window and count them along the highway. They pass me at the most fortunate moments, reminding me to find strength in my vulnerability and to open up and connect with the people around me. I hope this guitar will remind those who play it of these lessons, too.”

This Gibson Margo Price J45 from December 2024 has light playwear on the pickguards, along with some light playwear on the back of the body. The bridge has also been reglued on the bass side. Otherwise, the guitar looks exceptionally clean and offers a great opportunity to own this beautiful model.
