Martin Custom Size 5 Terz Adirondack Mahogany TFOA 25th Anniversary

We commissioned this stunning Terz from the Martin Custom Shop to celebrate our 25th anniversary! The Martin Terz is characterized by its compact size and a tuning that differs from that of a standard guitar. This particular Terz takes things a step further, featuring an Adirondack spruce top adorned with a beautiful Sunburst finish!

The "Size 5" is the smallest guitar model built by Martin, measuring approximately 28.5 cm (11.25 inches) in width. While many guitarists once viewed Size 5 instruments as mere "junior" guitars, they gained popularity in the 1950s and 60s thanks to Marty Robbins, who frequently used one on stage.

Known as a "Terz" guitar, it is designed to be tuned a minor third higher than standard tuning, making it ideal for solo performances and adding harmonic color. Its short scale length and smaller body produce a unique sound, characterized by excellent tone, volume, and projection.

The body features an understated aesthetic, accented by black binding, black-and-white purfling, and a matching rosette. Combined with the Sunburst finish and mahogany back and sides, this gives the Martin a classic, timeless appearance. The look is perfectly completed by a headstock featuring a rosewood overlay and a gold, vintage-style logo!

This guitar has been carefully inspected for condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
