Martin D18 Lefty 1974

Few dreadnoughts are as beloved as the Martin D18, a multi-purpose workhorse that prioritized function over style. Over the years, the specifications of this model have changed regularly, and this 1974 D18 demonstrates the specs characteristic of that period. The tortoise binding and pickguard have given way to black, the bracing has become non-scalloped, and there is a large rosewood bridge plate on the inside of the body.

With the volume of the dreadnought body, it offers a beautifully balanced sound where not the lows, but the clear highs and punchy mids take center stage. As a result, it sounds particularly beautiful not only when strumming, but even when fingerstyle.

This left-handed D18 has been around for 52 years now, and the guitar has therefore undergone several repairs. A center seam crack on both the top and the back has been repaired, and the guitar has had a neck reset. Some traces of the latter repair can still be found on the heel and along the edge of the fretboard.

The guitar has also collected the expected normal signs of play and dings over the years, but overall it just looks pretty neat for a vintage guitar! Comes with TFOA passport in the original blue Martin case.
