This Martin slope shoulder dreadnought with a slotted headstock is a very different guitar from the standard D28. The 12-fret neck on a large body produces a much greater bass response and a more dynamic guitar. The Martin D28S was produced between 1964 and 1993. The "S" in the model name indicates that it has a 12-fret body configuration, which was the norm on the first (pre-1934) Martin dreadnoughts. The 12-fret neck on a large body produces a much greater bass response and a more dynamic guitar. Despite the 12-fret neck, it does not have a shorter scale length, but the usual length of 25.4". On the other hand, it does have a wide neck with a 45 mm nut width. And we haven't even mentioned the beautiful back and sides made of Indian rosewood with a Sitka spruce top! A classic combination that stands for a rich, full, and lively sound. And we had to blink an extra time when we saw this guitar, because it really is from 1991! The guitar is remarkably clean and has only minimal signs of wear. Most noticeable are a very superficial scratch near the pickguard and a ding on the top near the lower bout, along with very light signs of wear on the back of the body. Finally, the nut and bridge saddle have been replaced.Otherwise, the guitar looks particularly neat and comes with a TFOA passport in an original Martin case.Consignment.
