Martin OM42 Koa 2005

This 2005 Martin OM42K Koa is a particularly luxurious version of Martin’s Orchestra Model, immediately catching the eye with its stunning figured koa body. The solid koa back and sides are paired with a solid Sitka spruce top, featuring exquisite abalone inlay reserved for Martin’s top-tier instruments.

The combination of koa and Sitka spruce gives the OM42K a unique character, making it exceptionally well-suited for fingerstyle playing thanks to its beautiful, clear tone. The Style 45 rosette and abalone snowflake inlays on the ebony fretboard underscore the model's exclusive nature.

Beneath these fine details lies traditional Martin construction, featuring a mahogany neck, a dovetail neck joint, and an OM bracing pattern with scalloped 1/4-inch braces. The compact 14-fret body has a 25.4-inch scale length, combining a comfortable shape with the distinctive look of a high-end Martin. Grained ivoroid binding, an ebony bridge, a rosewood headstock overlay with an abalone C.F. Martin logo, and gold-colored tuners complete the package.

Built in 2005, this Martin has been well-maintained over the years. There are a few small dings on the top, and the finish shows minute checking along the binding edges at the waist and heel cap, a result of the inevitable shrinkage of the binding material. Overall, however, the guitar is in excellent condition, and thanks to its beautiful koa wood, it is a truly impressive instrument.
