Over the past 40 years, master luthier Michael Dunn has hand-built more than 530 instruments for a number of highly distinguished players, collectors, and investors. Many of these instruments pay homage to the tradition of Django Reinhardt’s Gypsy jazz and the Selmer guitars of the 1930s.

This Gypsy bass, however, draws inspiration from Pablo Picasso, who painted guitars himself and even built one (albeit a non-functional one). The instrument's lines bear a strong resemblance to the world-famous painter's Analytical Cubism—a unique and visually stunning addition to the flowing lines of the Selmer-style aesthetic. Unique features include a two-piece ebony/maple back, an ebony/maple rosette, and a brass tailpiece with an ebony/maple overlay and string damper.

This bass guitar delivers plenty of power and is ideal for accompanying acoustic music. It also features a side soundport, allowing the player to hear themselves more clearly. The instrument produces a sound that is big, warm, defined, and exceptionally balanced.

It is in very good condition and looks very clean, aside from the usual signs of play. In addition to these light signs of use, the bass has a repaired crack on the back of the body.
