Northfield NFMSP A5 WN

Northfield was founded by a team of experienced builders with workshops in Michigan and China, and this international approach clearly pays off. The tonewoods are selected and matched in Marshall, after which the instrument is built and finished in Qingdao before returning to Michigan for final setup and inspection.

The A5 is their own interpretation of a classic concept: an A-style mandolin with f-holes, a design that Gibson considered during the Loar era but never actually put into production. For this model, Northfield drew inspiration from their highly regarded Model M and Artist Series.

What sets this A5 apart from the standard series lies in the details. The Italian spruce top and figured maple body are finished with a thin spirit varnish, a finish that allows the wood to resonate more freely.

On the back, you’ll find the beautiful Nugget tailpiece. The result is a mandolin with a strong, driving “chop” that can easily power a bluegrass band, while still offering enough sweetness and warmth in the tone to shine in jazz or Celtic music as well. Supplied with a case and certificate of authenticity.
