This 2006 PRS Hollowbody I pairs a 10-Top figured maple top with a mahogany back and sides, carved into PRS's fully hollow archtop body. Twin PRS humbuckers and a built-in Piezo pickup give it real range — full electric tone on one side, an acoustic-leaning voice on the other, blendable through the onboard controls.

Paul Reed Smith introduced the Hollowbody as PRS's take on the classic archtop, built around the same carved-top construction that had already defined the brand's semi-hollow McCarty instruments. Where the standard McCarty models kept a solid body, the Hollowbody line carved out a genuinely hollow chamber, pairing a carved maple top with mahogany back and sides for extra air and resonance. The Piezo option, added to the lineup in 1999, gave players a way to blend that acoustic-leaning hollowbody character with PRS's signature humbucker tone in a single instrument.

This example carries a 10-Top rated maple top — PRS's highest visual grade, reserved for maple with clean, consistent figure across the whole top — finished in Vintage Yellow. The mahogany neck has a Pattern profile with a rosewood fingerboard, 10" radius and 25" scale, paired with PRS locking tuners and a wraparound bridge. This 2006 build carries plenty of small dings and play marks on the back and sides — signs of an instrument that's been played rather than kept in a case — but it's in very good condition overall, and none of it affects playability.
