PRS McCarty All Black 2023

This 2023 PRS McCarty in All Black takes one of PRS's most loved models and gives it a sleek, understated look. Underneath that black finish sits everything the McCarty is known for: a carved maple top over a mahogany back, a one piece mahogany neck and a pair of 58/15 LT humbuckers that deliver a warm, vintage flavoured tone with plenty of character.

The McCarty is named after Ted McCarty, the guitar industry pioneer who mentored Paul Reed Smith, and the first McCarty model appeared in 1994. It was PRS's way of blending its own modern refinements with the vintage feel and sound that so many players love. For the 2023 version, PRS updated several parts, and according to Paul Reed Smith the result is a guitar that sustains longer and has more character in its tone.

The maple top adds clarity and a bright attack, while the mahogany back brings warmth and body, so chords sound full and single notes stay focused. The set neck and the stoptail bridge with brass inserts help the notes ring out for a long time. The low turn 58/15 LT pickups have a slightly lower output, which gives them an open, clear voice that cleans up nicely when you roll back the volume, and the push/pull tone control gives you extra tonal options. The Pattern neck has a full, comfortable shape, and the 25" scale with its 10" radius makes bends feel easy and chords feel natural.

This 2023 McCarty is in excellent condition. It shows some light signs of play in the form of small scratches, mainly on the back of the body. It comes with a hardshell case.
