The MD is the ultimate all-rounder in the Tom Sands range; the guitar has a Grand Auditorium size with a cutaway and can handle any playing style, but undoubtedly excels in fingerstyle. The guitar is constructed from a Sitka spruce top with a beautiful Quilted Sapele body. Beneath the top is a unique bracing that combines X-bracing and lattice bracing.

In terms of details, Tom Sands spared no expense either, as the brass inlay on the rosette and headstock immediately catches the eye. The guitar further features ebony for the fingerboard, headstock, bridge, and binding, complemented by contrasting maple details.

Tom Sands was one of the students of the legendary Ervin Somogyi in 2015, after entering the furniture business via the Glasgow School of Art. The switch to guitar building was the right choice, as he started his own workshop in North Yorkshire in 2017. This guitar is part of his first series of guitars and is one of eight guitars with the ‘Apprentice te Ervin Somogyi’ label.

The guitar has been well preserved in its high-quality Hoffee carbon case and shows only minimal signs of wear. This is a unique instrument of a caliber rarely seen, fascinating to own and to play. An absolute crowning glory of any guitar collection!
