Santa Cruz VA Vintage Artist 1995

In 1991, Richard Hoover teamed up with vintage experts to determine the most sought-after features of several iconic Pre-War D-18s. The prototype of the Vintage Artist was in the hands of guitarist Doc Watson, who called it the Dreadnought he had been looking for all his life.
Santa Cruz presented this guitar model as the tonal equal and technical superior to the most revered Pre-War guitars. This Vintage Artist features a Indian rosewood back and sides and an German spruce top with scalloped X-bracing. The mahogany neck has an ebony fingerboard and, like the body, is provided with an ivoroid binding.
Over the years, this 1995 Santa Cruz Vintage Artist has undergone some repairs. A repaired center seam crack is visible on the top, and the body has undergone a repair at the shoulder on the bass side, including a partial overspray.
The guitar has also undergone a neck reset and a refret, and has playwear on the body and neck and some dings. The bridge saddle has also been replaced and the guitar is equipped with a Schertler Lydia pickup. However, the playability and sound of the guitar are perfectly fine, and this Santa Cruz has many years of playing pleasure in it! Comes with TFOA passport in a hardshell case.
