Gedurende zijn carrière heeft Fortus op Gretsch gitaren gespeeld, met name op Falcons, waardoor hij zijn eigen mening kon vormen over hoe een signature model eruit zou moeten zien.
Net zoals het zwarte model, begint deze Black Falcon met een resonante 1.75"-diepe, 17"-brede double-cutaway maple body met een lichtgewicht spruce center block. Het kenmerk dat deze Falcon's mede onderscheidt van de standaard, zijn de custom wound Filtertron's, wat een hybride is tussen een vintage PAF en de klassieke Filter'Tron tone, wat meer midrange geeft om een vollere toon te krijgen, terwijl het pure rock 'n roll geluid behouden blijft.
