De OM Grand van Santa Cruz is in essentie een grotere en vooral luidere uitvoering van het befaamde OM-model. Het idee voor de OM Grand kwam van winkel-eigenaar Harry Tuft, die Richard Hoover verzocht om een custom instrument te bouwen voor het 50-jarig bestaan van zijn zaak. Hij baseerde de gitaar op het historische 0000-model, en voegde de OM Grand toe aan de standaardmodellen van Santa Cruz.
Het bovenblad van deze OM Grand is gemaakt van Bearclaw Sitka sparren, een houtsoort die zich door zijn mooie nerfpatroon en sterke tonale capaciteiten. Dit hout vormt een adembenemende combinatie met de Cocobolo klankkast, die door zijn spectaculaire tekening de absolute blikvanger van deze gitaar is.
De klank van deze gitaar laat zich niet louter kenmerken door een hoger volume; de nuance van bijvoorbeeld fingerstyle zal behouden blijven, waarbij verfijnde solo's door de volle klank van de gitaar met minder inspanning gespeeld kunnen worden.

The OM Grand from Santa Cruz is essentially a larger and above all louder version of the famous OM model. The idea for the OM Grand came from shop owner Harry Tuft, who asked Richard Hoover to build a custom instrument for the 50th anniversary of his business. He based the guitar on the historic 0000 model, adding the OM Grand to Santa Cruz's standard models.
The top of this OM Grand is made of bearclaw Sitka spruce, a wood that stands out due to its beautiful grain pattern and strong tonal capabilities. This wood forms a breathtaking combination with the Cocobolo body, which is the absolute eye-catcher of this guitar due to its spectacular appearance.
The sound of this guitar is not only characterized by a higher volume; the nuance of, for example, fingerstyle will be preserved, whereby refined solos can be played with less effort due to the full sound of the guitar.

Die OM Grand von Santa Cruz ist im Wesentlichen eine größere und vor allem lautere Version des berühmten OM-Modells. Die Idee für die OM Grand stammte vom Ladenbesitzer Harry Tuft, der Richard Hoover bat, ein maßgefertigtes Instrument zum 50. Jubiläum seines Geschäfts zu bauen. Er orientierte sich an dem historischen 0000-Modell und fügte die OM Grand zu den Standardmodellen von Santa Cruz hinzu.
Die Decke dieser OM Grand besteht aus Bearclaw-Sitka-Fichte, einem Holz, das durch sein wunderschönes Maserungsmuster und seine starken klanglichen Eigenschaften hervorsticht. Dieses Holz bildet eine atemberaubende Kombination mit dem Cocobolo-Korpus, der aufgrund seines spektakulären Aussehens das absolute Highlight dieser Gitarre ist.
Der Klang dieser Gitarre zeichnet sich nicht nur durch eine höhere Lautstärke aus; die Feinheit beim Fingerpicking beispielsweise bleibt erhalten, wodurch raffinierte Soli aufgrund des vollen Klangs der Gitarre mit weniger Aufwand gespielt werden können.
