Epiphone FT79N Texan 1966 #423152
The Epiphone FT79 saw the light of day in 1942. After Gibson acquired Epiphone in 1957, the model was redesigned and produced in Kalamazoo, Michigan with the addition "Texan" in the name. Due to the new design, the model was very similar to Gibson's J45, but had a longer working life.
The Texan rose to prominence in the hands of Paul McCartney who used one in the hit song "Yesterday". Other well-known artists who used a Texan were Kurt Cobain, Ben Gibbard, Noel Gallagher and Peter Frampton.
This 1966 Epiphone Texan contains playwear and weather checking that are not uncommon for a guitar of this age, but it is still in very good condition. A repair has been made on the heel, and that part has been partially refinished. Furthermore, the tuners and the bridge saddle have been replaced, and the guitar has had a refret.
However, the guitar is stable, plays very pleasantly and has a nice full, round sound that lends itself perfectly to strumming. The guitar comes in a vintage case.
