Goodall KCJ 66 Hawaiian Koa Jumbo 2020
Zo'n goede gitaarbouwer als James Goodall vragen om een medium Jumbo sized gitaar, vergelijkbaar met de Lowden F, te bouwen, is gewoon vragen om geïmponeerd te worden door vakmanschap en sound. Deze Goodall KCJ produceert een enorm volume, kracht, met een indrukwekkende balans, concertzaalachtige bas die nooit te veel is, maar altijd precies goed en die alleen kan worden vergeleken met een goede Steinway vleugel.
De combinatie van Hawaiiaanse koa met Engelmann sparrenhout zorgt voor een directheid en helderheid en een unieke dynamiek die belangrijk is. Goodall is erin geslaagd een instrument te bouwen dat een geweldige focus, enkele nootdefinitie en een indrukwekkende sustain heeft.
Hawaiian koa staat bekend om zijn vlam en het stuk dat op deze gitaar is gebruikt, heeft dat zeker ook. De gitaar heeft gevlamde esdoorn bindingen die mooi contrasteren met de Engelmann sparren top en het koa. Verder is hij voorzien van een parelmoer purfling, ebben brug met ongebleekt benen zadel. Zelfs de Honduras mahoniehouten hals past met zijn subtiele vlam goed bij de klankkast. Hij heeft parelmoer inleg op de ebben toets en de kop is gebonden met dezelfde gevlamd esdoorn zodat het bij de klankkast past, en is uitgerust met gouden Gotoh 510s met ebbenhouten knoppen.

This Goodall KCJ 66 brings a tremendous amount of balance, concert-hall like bass that can only be likened to a grand piano and the combination of Hawaiian Koa with Engelmann spruce brings a brilliance and clarity. The low frequencies are very present, but Goodall has managed to build an instrument that remains a great focus, single-note definition and impressive sustain.
Hawaiian Koa is known to be impressively figured, the piece used on this guitar certainly is and it is constructed to its Engelmann spruce top with flamed maple bindings. Furthermore it is appointed with an abalone purfling, ebony bridge with unbleached bone saddle. Even the Honduras mahogany neck is matching the sides with a subtle flame. It features mother of pearl inlay on the ebony fretboard and the headstock is bound with the same flamed maple to match the body and is equipped with gold Gotoh 510s with ebony knobs.
