Het is een perfecte studiogitaar met die klassieke droge, maar ook dynamische, Gibson klank. Deze Hummingbird is waarschijnlijk ook vaak in de studio gebruikt omdat er drie patches te vinden zijn op de zijkant van de klankkast; een waar een output heeft gezeten en twee op de schouder aan de treble kant voor de volume- en toonregelaars.
Naast de gebruikelijke speelsporen en krasjes, laat deze gitaar met name zijn leeftijd zien door de craquelé op de body en hals, en een paar lakchips waarvan een wat grotere plek op de zijkant van de klankkast. Door de jaren heeft heeft hij ook een nieuwe brug gekregen en is de output jack aan de zijkant opgevuld.
