    We zijn altijd smoorverliefd geweest op AMPEG®. In het begin was het bedrijf een Jazz purist bedrijf, volledig voorbijgaand aan (mogelijk neerkijkend op) meer populaire genres zoals Country & Western en Rock die FENDER® en MARSHALL® openlijk omarmden.

     
    Vanuit een ontwerp standpunt hebben ze meer linken aan de hifi wereld dan aan gitaristen zoals blijkt uit hun buizencomplementen, versterkingsstappen zonder kathode condensatoren, en de implementatie van de Baxandall toonregeling. En ze zijn ook niet vies van innovatie, de "Flip-top" combo's zijn daar een goed voorbeeld van. En dan is er nog minstens één versterkermodel dat een torsiestang had om de dichtheid van de luidsprekerbehuizing aan te passen!

And they we’re no slouches to innovation either, “Flip-top” combos is a great example. Not to mention there is at least one model of amplifier that had a torsion bar to adjust the tightness of the speaker baffle!
