De toets inleg spellen zijn naam in morsecode, verwijzend naar zijn passie voor radiobediening en de Tibetaanse knoop tussen beide pickups is een symbool van zeer persoonlijke betekenis voor Joe dat hij ook als een tatoeage draagt.
Omdat hij zelf een serieuze guitarhead is, experimenteert hij ook graag met de hardware van zijn gitaren, wat vaak resulteert in rare combinaties. Daarom is de hardware van de Alliance Joe Walsh een mix van nikkel en goud.
