Deze Martin Custom Shop DSS Hops & Barley zal door zijn gelimiteerde oplage zeker een droomgitaar voor verzamelaars worden. Het is een eerbetoon aan de speciale granen die beroemd zijn geworden vanwege hun gebruik bij het maken van bier. Het instrument is vervaardigd met een zeer gevlamde walnoten achter- en zijkanten, een houtsoort die in het toonspectrum tussen koa en mahonie valt.
Het produceert een zeer gebalanceerd geluid dat na verloop van tijd verzacht tot een mooie warme toon. Het bovenblad is gemaakt van Sinker redwood en wordt aangevuld met Europees gevlamd esdoorn en parelmoer inlegbinding aan de voorkant en een Guatemalan palissander kopplaat en slagplaat. De kop, toets, rozet, slagplaat en brug zijn versierd met een combinatie van abalone-, parelmoer- en houtinleg, die hop en gerst in verschillende vormen weergeven.
Het instrument combineert enkele authentieke bouwkenmerken, zoals een zwaluwstaarthalsverbinding, huidlijmconstructie en een logo in oude stijl uit 1931. Het bevat ook moderne functies zoals Liquidmetal-brugpennen en een comfortabele, hoogwaardige, tapse hals.
Dit model is beperkt tot 100 exemplaren en bevat een papieren label ondertekend door C. F. Martin IV.
This limited edition Martin Custom Shop DSS Hops & Barley is sure to become a collector’s dream guitar. It pays homage to the special grains made famous for their use in beer making. The instrument is crafted with highly flamed walnut back and sides, which fall on the tone spectrum between koa and mahogany.
It produces a very balanced sound that mellows out over time to a nice warm tone. The top is made with sinker redwood and is complemented with European flamed maple and pearl inlay binding on the front and a Guatemalan rosewood headplate and pickguard. The headstock, fingerboard, rosette, pickguard, and bridge are adorned with a combination of abalone, mother-of-pearl, and wood inlay, which depict hops and barley in various forms.
The instrument combines some Authentic build features like a dovetail neck joint, hide glue construction, and a 1931 old-style logo. It also includes modern features like Liquidmetal bridge pins and a comfortable high-performance taper neck.
This model is limited to 100 instruments and includes a paper label signed by C. F. Martin IV.
