De Les Paul Special werd in 1955 geïntroduceerd en is al meer dan 65 jaar een favoriet onder vele muzikanten. Dit model is gebaseerd op de Les Paul Junior met een massieve mahonie body en een robuuste 50's-stijl mahonie hals met palissander toets en crème binding.
De gitaar wordt met TFOA-paspoort geleverd in een koffer.
