Het topmodel van Martin's Dreadnought-lijn keerde terug in 1968 en er zijn in dat en het daaropvolgende jaar 230 gitaren gemaakt met Braziliaanse achterkant en zijkanten. Hier hebben we een D45 uit 1969 met serienummer #254433, dus dit is een van de allerlaatste Martin-gitaren met Braziliaans palissander!

Na de introductie in 1933 zijn er slechts 91 D45's gemaakt totdat dit model in 1942 werd stopgezet. Het topmodel van Martin's Dreadnought-lijn keerde terug in 1968 en er zijn in dat en het daaropvolgende jaar 230 gitaren gemaakt met Braziliaanse achterkant en zijkanten. Om nog specifieker te zijn, het laatste serienummer met Braziliaans palissander is #254497. Hier hebben we een D45 uit 1969 met serienummer #254433, dus dit is een van de allerlaatste Martin-gitaren met Braziliaans palissander!
Het moge duidelijk zijn dat dit een uiterst zeldzame gitaar is en we kunnen niet genoeg superlatieven gebruiken om dit juweeltje passend te beschrijven. Wat we wel willen benadrukken, is hoe opmerkelijk schoon deze D45 is! Het is duidelijk dat er al die jaren goed voor gezorgd is. Opvallende kenmerken zijn de grote palissander brugplaat, non-scalloped X-bracing en originele Grover Rotomatic stemmechanieken.
Ook qua geluid is het alles wat je maar kunt wensen. Hij produceert het luide 'booming' dreadnought-geluid en de combinatie Braziliaans/sparrenhout maakt de klank diep, rijk en perfect uitgebalanceerd.
De achterkant van de klankkast heeft een gerepareerde cracks en een paar 'touch-ups'. Verder verkeert hij nog steeds in excellente staat en een geweldig voorbeeld van een prachtig bewaard gebleven vintage gitaar. Dit is de perfecte gitaar voor elke veeleisende verzamelaar of muzikant!

It's obvious that it has been well cared for all these years. Notable features are the large rosewood bridge plate, non-scalloped X-bracing, and original Grover Rotomatic tuning machines.
Also in terms of sound it is everything you could wish for. It has the loud 'booming' dreadnought sound, and the Brazilian/spruce combination makes the tone deep, rich, and perfectly balanced.
The back of the body has one repaired crack and a few touch-ups. Otherwise it is still in excellent condition and a great example of a wonderfully preserved vintage guitar. T
