Michael Greenfield G1 Adirondack Cocobolo

Voordat Michael Greenfield halverwege de jaren 90 de keus maakte om fulltime gitaren te bouwen, besteedde Michael zo'n 20 jaar aan het repareren en restaureren van vintage instrumenten. Tegenwoordig maakt hij elk jaar ongeveer 16 prachtige akoestische gitaren in zijn werkplaats in Montréal, stuk voor stuk uniek met custom specificaties.

De G1 is ietsje groter dan een OM en een extreem veelzijdige gitaar. De G1 reageert snel op zelfs de lichtste aanraking en leent zich goed voor veel verschillende muziekstijlen. Hij heeft een zeer gefocust maar open geluid met een strakke responsieve bas, transparante middentonen en heldere hoge tonen. Hoewel het in de eerste plaats een fingerstyle gitaar is, is hij ook uitstekend geschikt voor licht tokkelen of akoestische jazz.

De achter- en zijkanten zijn gemaakt van cocobolo en vormen een 'match made in heaven' met het Adirondack sparren bovenblad. Het bewijs van zijn onberispelijke vakmanschap is overal op deze gitaar te vinden, zowel van binnen als van buiten, of het nu gaat om de kleinste details zoals de lichte contour van de hiel tot Greenfield's gepatenteerde 'Tone Halo' en 'modified lattice'-bracing in de klankkast. Esthetische details zijn onder meer de op Laskin geïnspireerde armrest, spalted beuken en abalone rozet en gouden Gotoh 510 stemmechanieken.

Wordt geleverd in een Calton koffer met certificaat van echtheid.

Prior to making the commitment to build full-time in the mid 90’s, Michael spent some 20 years repairing and restoring vintage instruments. Nowadays, he carefully handcrafts around 16 exquisite acoustic guitars each year in his Montréal shop, each and every one unique with custom specifications.

The G1 is slightly larger than an OM and an extremely versatile grand concert size guitar. The G1 is quick to respond to even the lightest touch and it lends itself well to many different styles of music. It has a very focused yet open sound with a tight responsive bass, transparent mids and thick, clear, ringing highs. While primarily a fingerstyle guitar, it is also superb for light strumming or acoustic jazz.

The back and sides are made from cocobolo and they form a 'match made in heaven' with the Adirondack spruce top. Proof of his immaculate craftsmanship can be found all over this guitar, both inside and out, whether it is in the smallest details like the small contour of the heel to Greenfield's proprietary Tone Halo and 'modified lattice' bracing inside the body. Beautiful aesthetic details include the Laskin inspired armrest, spalted beech and abalone rosette, and golden Gotoh 510 tuning machines.
