Bourgeois Down East Series Slope D AT Sitka Walnut Launch Edition

This Bourgeois Down East Slope D pairs an Aged Tone sitka spruce top with walnut back and sides, and the result is a guitar that sounds open and played in right from the start. Walnut sits nicely between mahogany and rosewood, so you get a focused low end, clear mids and lively, sparkling highs.

The Aged Tone process ages the top in a controlled way, which makes it respond quickly to your touch, while the hand carved scalloped X bracing lets it move freely for extra resonance. The slope shoulder dreadnought body gives it a warm, rounded voice that is perfect for strumming but still has the clarity for single note lines.

Dana Bourgeois has been building acoustic guitars in Maine for decades and is known as one of the most respected builders in the acoustic world, with a particular love for the sound of vintage American flattops. With the Down East Series, Bourgeois brings that knowledge and attention to tone to a more accessible guitar, without losing the character that makes a Bourgeois special.

Ivoroid binding, a single ring rosette and a tortoise pickguard give this Launch Edition a clean, traditional look that lets the wood and the sound speak for themselves. It comes with a hardshell case.

This guitar has been carefully inspected for condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
