Kraut 00 Fiddleback Mahogany Swiss Moon Spruce 2022

This 00 model by master luthier Raymond Kraut is simply a feast for the eyes. Packed with beautifully refined design elements, it is a guitar you will never tire of looking at. But make no mistake: it is not just its appearance that commands attention!

This Kraut 00 is lightly built and understated in its execution. The combination of a compact body and mahogany yields a clear, direct tone with a defined midrange and excellent touch sensitivity. The 00 model is Kraut’s smallest instrument, yet despite its size it delivers a full, powerful sound.

Raymond Kraut, based in Tucson, Arizona, began his lutherie training in 2004 at the Roberto-Venn School of Lutherie before being hired as the third apprentice to renowned luthier Ervin Somogyi. Somogyi’s philosophy regarding acoustic guitar responsiveness remains the foundation of Kraut’s approach. This is clearly evident in this 00 model: the guitar responds instantly to the player, offering ample scope for dynamics and expression. This makes it particularly well-suited for fingerstyle, folk, and vocal accompaniment.

The Swiss Moon Spruce top is paired with mahogany featuring a fine, wavy grain pattern. The understated finish complements the design beautifully, featuring a simple mahogany rosette and a headstock with mahogany veneer and Kraut’s signature styling. It is a tastefully crafted instrument where lightness, responsiveness, and a clear, balanced tone take center stage.

The guitar has two small dings on the top; near the armrest and between the bridge and the soundhole. The back of the body also has a small, superficial ding, located on the treble side of the center strip. Otherwise, the guitar is exceptionally clean; it is a unique and very rare model from a highly talented builder!

This guitar has been carefully inspected for condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
