Collings CJ Sunburst Mahogany 2021

Thanks to the exceptional quality and craftsmanship of Collings from Austin, Texas, you know immediately that you are dealing with something special when you pick up one of their instruments. This is also the case with this 2021 CJ; as we have come to expect from Collings, it is once again a fantastic guitar!

The CJ, Collings Jumbo, is Collings' interpretation of one of the all-time classics in the guitar world, the Gibson J45. The slope shoulder is a model that has always retained a loyal fan base over the years, and these guitarists praise the model for its unique sound. While the guitar is not noticeably larger than a dreadnought, the slope shoulder distinguishes itself with a deep, full sound featuring a rich bass presence, while the highs and mids are also beautifully balanced.

The Sitka spruce top is encased in a beautiful, subtle sunburst finish and is accompanied by a Honduran mahogany body framed in tortoise binding. The mahogany neck features a sturdy C-profile and is comfortable to play along its entire 25.5-inch length thanks to the compound radius. The neck is decorated with tortoise binding, mother-of-pearl dot inlays, and an ebony headstock.

The guitar was built in 2021 and has light signs of wear and a few small dings on the top. Very minimal signs of wear and a few small dings can also be found on the back of the body, but the guitar is otherwise exceptionally clean. As we have come to expect from Collings, this CJ is of extraordinary quality. The materials used meet the highest standards, and the finish will make any enthusiast's mouth water. It is not without reason that these guitars do not stay in our store for long; once you have played a Collings, you won't want anything else!
