Dingwall Combustion 4-string Pau Ferro 2 Tone Blackburst

The Dingwall Combustion 4-string is a modern bass guitar that combines playing comfort, versatility, and a distinctive tonal character. Its compact, lightweight swamp ash body is based on the Custom Shop Afterburner, resulting in a well-balanced instrument.

This version features a 2-Tone Blackburst finish and a Pau Ferro fretboard, further highlighting the Combustion's contemporary aesthetic. The five-piece maple neck is bolt-on and features Dingwall’s signature multi-scale construction, utilizing Ralph Novak’s fanned-fret system. On the 4-string model, the scale length ranges from 34 to 36.25 inches, ensuring consistent string tension and playing feel across the entire neck.

The Combustion is equipped with three Dingwall FD3n pickups featuring neodymium magnets and a versatile Quad-Tone pickup selector. This offers four distinct configurations: bridge pickup; bridge and middle pickups (MM-style); bridge and neck pickups (J-style); and neck pickup. An EMG B30EQ preamp adds an active 3-band EQ (bass, mid, and treble), while an active/passive switch provides additional flexibility. This makes the Combustion capable of producing a wide range of tones, from tight and defined to fuller and more pronounced sounds.

The hardware is also fully aligned with Dingwall’s modern design philosophy. The "Minimalist" one-piece bridge on this 4-string model features 19mm string spacing and is paired with licensed Hipshot Ultralite tuners and a Graph Tech Black TUSQ nut. The neck is fitted with 24 "banjo-sized" frets and has a 9.45-inch fretboard radius. Thanks to the combination of the multi-scale length, the ergonomically shaped body, and the extensive electronics, the Combustion offers a highly versatile foundation for both studio and stage use!

This instrument has been carefully inspected for condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
