Dupont Vieille Réserve #99 2007

This 2007 Maurice Dupont Vieille Réserve #99 is a beautifully built gypsy jazz guitar from one of France's most respected luthiers. Its solid spruce top, laminated Indian rosewood body and refined ebony details deliver the dry, punchy bark and cutting projection that Manouche players love.

Maurice Dupont has been building Selmer-Maccaferri style guitars in France since the 1980s, and his instruments are widely regarded as some of the finest Gypsy Jazz guitars available today, prized by gypsy jazz players around the world for their authenticity and craftsmanship. The Vieille Réserve line represents his more refined, higher-appointed work, carrying forward the tradition of the legendary Selmer guitars of the 1930s that Django Reinhardt made famous.

Built with a solid spruce top over laminated Indian rosewood back and sides, this guitar combines warmth with the projection the style demands. The walnut neck carries a slim D profile and an ebony fingerboard with a 12" radius, a zero fret and pearloid block inlays, while the 670 mm scale and 43.7 mm nut give the familiar Selmer feel. Ebony binding, black purfling and rosette, an ebony bridge, three-on-a-plate tuners and a trapeze tailpiece complete the picture.

In excellent condition throughout, it plays effortlessly and sounds every bit the part. After nearly twenty years, this guitar still looks really clean besides the usual playwear and the finish on the top is already starting to show its first characteristic weatherchecking lines.
