The Les Paul Special first appeared in the late 1950s as a no-frills, working musician's guitar: a slab mahogany body, P-90 pickups and a wraparound bridge, with none of the flash but plenty of the tone. The 1960 doublecut version added easier access to the upper frets, and that stripped-back recipe has been a favourite of players from garage rockers to studio pros ever since. With this Inspired by Gibson reissue, Epiphone brings the formula back with details that stay true to the original.

Those two Gibson Custom USA P-90 soapbars are the heart of this guitar, delivering a fat, punchy midrange that cleans up sweetly and grinds hard when you dig in.
