An Inspired by Gibson Custom recreation of one of the world’s most famous flat-tops, the Hummingbird!
Epiphone's 1960 Hummingbird Reissue pays tribute to a legendary model from Gibson's history. The first square-shouldered guitar in the Gibson lineup, the original Hummingbird debuted in 1960 and quickly found its way into the hands of countless artists, from Keith Richards and Gillian Welch to Thom Yorke. This reissue, developed in collaboration with Gibson Custom, stays true to the original and is built for versatility, from subtle fingerpicking to powerful strumming.
The back and sides are made of solid mahogany, with a heat-treated Sitka spruce top and traditional scalloped X-bracing. The result is a warm, rich tone that effortlessly complements a variety of musical styles. The 24.75-inch mahogany neck with a rounded profile feels familiar and features a bound rosewood fingerboard with classic split parallelogram inlays. Aesthetically, the Hummingbird remains a head-turner, with a striking pickguard, multi-ply binding, gold tuners, and beautiful inlays on the headstock and fingerboard.
For the modern musician, this guitar is also practical. The built-in L.R. Baggs Element Bronze VTC pickup provides natural acoustic sound reproduction during recordings or performances. The 1960 Hummingbird Reissue comes in a sturdy Red Line hardshell case with "Inspired by Gibson Custom" branding, worthy protection for an instrument with so much musical history.
