A '52 Telecaster with a distinctive twist: this Custom Shop example is not equipped with the traditional Tele single-coils, but with a set of TV Jones pickups. Finished in a beautiful Shell Pink color with an attractive Journeyman Relic treatment, it combines vintage looks with a voice that is just a little different from the norm. The Telecaster was Fender’s first mass-produced solid-body electric guitar in the early 1950s, and the 1952 model year is widely regarded as one of the most desirable specifications in the instrument’s history. The ash body and roasted maple neck and fingerboard form the foundation of this Tele. The roasting process makes the wood more stable and gives the neck an immediately comfortable, broken-in feel. The substantial '52 U-shaped neck profile fills the hand nicely, while the 9.5" radius offers excellent playability for both chord work and string bending. The most striking difference, however, lies in the pickups. Where you would normally expect the characteristic Tele twang, the TV Jones pickups deliver a fuller, richer voice with added chime and bite. The result is a slightly different character with a hint of Gretsch-like personality, while still retaining the unmistakable Telecaster snap. Comes complete with a tweed case.
