Gibson Les Paul Custom Sideways Vibrola Vintage White 1961

With its Polaris White finish, three humbuckers, and gold-colored hardware, this Gibson is undoubtedly one of the coolest guitars in our store!

We all know the Gibson Les Paul, of course, as one of the most iconic guitars in history, but the model hasn't always had its famous single-cut body. In the late 1950s, the model lost ground to the thin and, above all, lighter guitars of the competition, to which Gibson responded with a completely new model in 1961.

With a thin and light mahogany body with graceful contours, Gibson took a completely different approach, but the model did retain the name Les Paul. This was not to Les Paul's liking, however, as the new model did not please him at all. For this reason, in October 1963, Gibson removed the name Les Paul from the guitar and renamed it the SG, Solid Guitar.

This Les Paul Custom was the top model of the series, and in addition to a Polaris White finish, it is also equipped with gold-colored hardware and three humbuckers. This features three Patent Number Humbuckers, which can be used via the switch as follows: neck pickup only, all pickups simultaneously, and the bridge and middle pickups together. On the back of the headstock, we find the original Grover tuning machines with Patent Pend. text, and next to the original bridge, the original Sideways Vibrola is also present.

The guitar has also been repaired for a crack in the headstock, as well as for a crack around the output. Furthermore, work has been done on the solder joints, and the volume potentiometer of the neck pickup has been replaced. The guitar also had a refret at some point. A true player that simply begs to be played!

This instrument has been carefully inspected for originality, condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
