Gibson Prewar SJ200 Rosewood Light Aged Vintage Sunburst 2025

The Gibson SJ-200 was first introduced in 1937 and quickly earned the nickname 'King of the Flat-Tops', thanks to its size, rich sound, exceptional projection and commanding stage presence. Until 1947, when the back and sides switched to maple, it was built using rosewood, and these rare pre-war models are now highly sought after by collectors.

Gibson Custom has created a faithful recreation of those exalted pre-war Super Jumbos. Like the originals, the Pre-War SJ-200 Rosewood Light Aged is beautifully ornate, with multi-ply purfling, graduated crown inlays and the iconic SJ-200 pickguard. The skilled artisans of the Murphy Lab have made sure it looks and feels like a well-preserved vintage example.

With its jumbo body and a combination of solid rosewood back and sides and a thermally aged Adirondack spruce top, it produces a bold, big projection and a rich, powerful voice. It is the perfect guitar for flatpicking and strumming.

This 2025 Gibson is in near mint condition. Aside from its aged finish, it has only picked up minimal playwear and remains exceptionally clean. It comes supplied in a hardshell case with a Certificate of Authenticity and a TFOA Passport.

This guitar has been carefully inspected for condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
