A Lowden has a voice you recognize within a single chord. This O23C pairs a solid walnut body with a solid red cedar top. That combination gives it a warm and rich sound with a clear, detailed top end.George Lowden started building guitars in Northern Ireland in the 1970s. The O body was the first shape he designed himself. It is still the model many players associate with the Lowden sound. Its large jumbo body moves plenty of air, which gives the guitar a full low end and a lot of volume. The red cedar top responds quickly to a light touch. That makes this guitar a joy for fingerstyle playing. It also stays clear when you strum harder. The walnut back and sides add warmth without making the sound muddy. Lowden's own Dolphin bracing supports the top, helping to create that typical piano-like Lowden tone. The five-piece neck of mahogany and rosewood is very stable. It stays straight, even when temperature and humidity change. The GL Standard profile feels comfortable in your hand. With a nut width of 45.3 mm, your fingers have plenty of room for fingerpicking and wide chord shapes. The ebony fingerboard has a flat 16" radius, which makes it easy to play across the whole neck. The maple binding gives the body a refined finish. The rosette combines maple, Rocklite and mahogany. On the headstock you will find a rosewood overlay. Gotoh 381 tuners with ebony buttons keep the guitar nicely in tune. It comes in a Lowden hardshell case, together with its provenance documents, booklets and a TFOA passport. This guitar has been carefully inspected for condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
