This 1950 Martin Style 0 is a soprano ukulele that has aged remarkably well. Built entirely from mahogany, it delivers the warm, woody voice these little Martins are loved for, and for its age it still looks wonderfully clean and well cared for.
The Style 0 was Martin's most affordable ukulele, but there was nothing modest about the way it was built. Introduced in the 1920s and made for decades afterwards, it became one of the most popular ukuleles of its era and helped cement Martin's reputation as the benchmark for the instrument. Its all-mahogany construction and simple, understated appointments were never about cutting corners; they were the recipe for the balanced, musical tone that keeps players reaching for these instruments.
For an instrument that is now well over seventy years old, this Style 0 has held up beautifully. It shows the light playing wear you would expect from a vintage ukulele, but it has clearly been looked after, leaving it in excellent overall condition. The natural mahogany body is finished with a tasteful multi-stripe rosette around the soundhole, while the rosewood fingerboard and mahogany bridge complete the classic, no-frills Style 0 look, topped off with white-button friction tuners.
Pick it up and that all-mahogany body does exactly what you hope for: a warm, rounded tone with a sweet top end and just enough punch to carry a melody. It is light, responsive and immediately inviting, and the short 350 mm scale paired with the slim D-profile neck makes it effortless to play. This is the kind of ukulele that is hard to put down.
This ukulele has been carefully inspected for condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
