What makes this Standard special starts with its body: a genuine two-piece mahogany back capped with a maple top, a pairing that gives it a warmer, fuller voice and a touch more sustain than the alder or ash you usually find here. The deep gloss black finish, scraped binding and gold appointments make for a wonderfully understated, premium look. The tinted maple neck and Indian rosewood fingerboard are finished with Suhr's trademark precision, with a slim, even C profile and a compound radius that stays comfortable whether you are playing open chords or bending high up the neck, and the stainless steel frets will keep it feeling smooth for decades.

The electronics are where this Standard really shows its range. A pair of V60 single coils in the neck and middle deliver that classic, chiming clarity, while a Thornbucker humbucker in the bridge brings genuine PAF-style warmth and bite. A five-way switch and a push-push coil split open up even more voices, and Suhr's SSCII system keeps the single coils completely free of hum. Add the locking tuners and Suhr's own tremolo, and you have an instrument that covers an enormous amount of tonal ground while staying rock-solid in tune.
