Robert Ruck Crossover Classical Indian Rosewood Cedar 1996

Robert Ruck (1945-2018) was a prolific and respected American luthier. His guitars were particularly known thanks to Manuel Barrueco and Shin-ichi Fukuda, who both recorded on Ruck’s guitars. This beauty comes to us from all the way back in 1996 and features Indian rosewood back and sides and a cedar top.

The voice is lively and rich and quick, with a brisk fundamental that packs some serious weight. The setup is feather smooth, and the neck profile feels equally easy in hand. Ruck’s addition of a soft cutaway allows the player quick access to the entire fingerboard.

The headstock has been upgraded with new Rodgers tuners that really set off the dark rosewood headstock veneer, not to mention operate smoothly with hardly any resistance. It looks very clean and, besides the usual playwear, it has some nail marks around the sound hole, a couple small dings on the top, binding, and on the neck. The top has one repaired crack that runs parallel to the fretboard.

It is nevertheless in good condition and comes in a hardshell case.
