Obwohl die meisten Leute eine 58er oder 59er wählen würden, hat die 64er ES335 einen Kultstatus erreicht, und viele Spieler würden ihre Gitarre nicht mehr missen wollen.

Begin jaren '60 werden de Londense muren volgekalkt met "Clapton is God", een onbewezen feit dat wij zeker niet gaan ontkennen. Clapton moet destijds gedacht hebben, bij zo'n grootheid hoort natuurlijk een goddelijke gitaar. Zo kocht hij in '64 een gloednieuwe Gibson. Twee jaar later werd Cream opgericht en sinds dat moment stond zijn knalrode ES335 bekend als de "Cream Guitar".
Met het zogenaamde "Spanish Electric" halsprofiel voor velen het beste halsprofiel ooit. Daaraast is deze gitaar volledig nagemaakt van een echte 64'er ES335 en dat voel je. Deze serie heeft iets bijzonders en om eerlijk te zijn, zo goed als dit hebben wij bij de Gibson Custom Shop al een aantal jaar niet meegemaakt. Van de scherpe hoorns tot het halsprofiel, de vintage-replica onderdelen en de small block inlay; hierop spelen is leuk. Hem hebben is nog leuker!
Het is dan ook geen verrassing dat de vorige eigenaar hier al goed op gespeeld heeft, wat nu terug te zien is aan de speelsporen. Ook zijn de humbuckers vervangen, maar mocht je de originele pickups er weer in willen, dan zijn die nog gewoon te vinden in de koffer.

In the early 1960s, the walls of London were plastered with "Clapton is God", an unproven fact that we certainly won't deny. Clapton must have thought at the time, such a greatness naturally calls for a divine guitar. For example, in '64 he bought a brand new Gibson. Cream was founded two years later and since then his bright red ES335 has been known as the "Cream Guitar".
With the so-called "Spanish Electric" neck profile, the best neck profile ever for many. In addition, this guitar is completely copied from a real 64'er ES335 and you can feel it. There's something special about this series and to be honest, we haven't seen anything like this at the Gibson Custom Shop in a number of years. From the sharp horns to the neck profile, the vintage-replica parts and the small block inlay; playing on this is fun. Having it is even more fun.
Not surprisingly, the previous owner has already played well on this, which is now reflected in some playwear. The humbuckers have also been replaced, but should you want to put the original pickups back in, they can still be found in the case.

Anfang der 1960er Jahre waren die Wände Londons mit dem Spruch "Clapton is God" zugepflastert, eine unbewiesene Tatsache, die wir sicher nicht leugnen werden. Clapton muss damals gedacht haben, dass eine solche Größe natürlich auch eine göttliche Gitarre erfordert. So kaufte er sich '64 eine nagelneue Gibson. Zwei Jahre später wurde Cream gegründet, und seither ist seine knallrote ES335 als "Cream Guitar" bekannt.
Mit dem sogenannten "Spanish Electric"-Halsprofil, für viele das beste Halsprofil überhaupt. Außerdem ist diese Gitarre komplett einer echten 64'er ES335 nachempfunden und das spürt man. Diese Serie hat etwas Besonderes an sich, und um ehrlich zu sein, haben wir so etwas im Gibson Custom Shop schon seit Jahren nicht mehr gesehen. Von den scharfen Hörnern bis hin zum Halsprofil, den Vintage-Replika-Teilen und dem Small-Block-Inlay: Es macht Spaß, auf dieser Gitarre zu spielen. Sie zu besitzen macht sogar noch mehr Spaß.
Es überrascht nicht, dass der Vorbesitzer schon viel darauf gespielt hat, was sich nun in einigen Spielspuren niederschlägt. Die Humbucker wurden ebenfalls ausgetauscht, aber falls Sie die originalen Tonabnehmer wieder einsetzen möchten, befinden sich diese noch im Koffer.
