Elfring Little Gem Combo Cowboy Tolex
Floris Elfring is opgeleid als vliegtuigbouwer (HTS Vliegtuigbouw) en groot liefhebber van gitaarmuziek. Met zijn technische achtergrond, twee rechterhanden (en -voeten) en gevoel voor gitaarmuziek ging hij de afgelopen jaren op zoek naar het ultieme geluid.
Als medeoprichter en -eigenaar van het Nederlandse versterkermerk Kool & Elfring ontwierp en bouwde hij vanaf 2007 diverse buizenversterkers. Sinds 2015 is hij zijn eigen weg ingeslagen met Elfring Amps.
De Little Gem is een kleine amp met een groots geluid. De meeste kleine versterkers klinken 'boxy' en hebben een beperkt klankbereik. Deze Elfring Amp heeft echter een mooi en strak laag wat resulteert in goede clean sound, maar met voldoende mids zodat hij niet dun klinkt. Zodra je de volumeknop open draait komt er een randje bij en overstuurt hij uiteindelijk, maar het zal je verassen dat deze 5 watter grotendeels overeind blijft. Hierdoor is deze versterker erg veelzijdig, wat is in te regelen met slechts drie knoppen. Het 'less-is-more principe leidt binnen versterkers over het algemeen tot een betere sound met een goede dynamische respons. Dat geldt dus ook voor de Little Gem. Tot slot zit er een fantastische reverb op waar menig Fender-fan jaloers op gaat worden en dat op dit prijspunt.

The Little Gem is a small amp with a big tone. Most small amplifiers sound 'boxy' and have a limited tonal range. This Elfring Amp, however, has a nice and tight lows, which results in a great clean sound, but with enough mids so that it does not sound thin. When you turn the volume knob past 1 o'clock the amp will slightly break up. Push it even further and it creates a beautiful tweed-esque distortion, but the tone remains tight and has enough definition in order to cut through the mix. This makes this amplifier very versatile and it can be adjusted with just three buttons. The less-is-more principle generally leads to better sound with a good dynamic response within amplifier-land. This also applies to the Little Gem. Finally, there is a fantastic reverb on which many Fender fans will be jealous, and that at this price point.
