Dana Bourgeois bouwt al bijna 40 jaar gitaren. Hij staat wereldwijd bekend als een van de vooraanstaande autoriteiten op het gebied van het op klank brengen, selecteren en gebruiken van de allerbeste klankhoutsoorten. Deze dreadnought is dan ook een instrument van uitzonderlijke klasse.
Zo is de klankkast van deze gitaar vervaardigd uit mahonie, terwijl het bovenblad van Adirondack sparren is gemaakt. Beide houtsoorten beschikken over de Aged Tone-technologie, waarbij het hout zodanig is behandeld dat het klinkt als bij een ingespeelde gitaar.
De gitaar is verder voorzien van een hals met 25.5 inch mensuur, waarvan zowel de ebben toets als de palissander kopplaat zonder inleg zijn uitgevoerd. De body is daarbij afgewerkt met een ivoroid binding die op zijn beurt weer is voorzien van een herringbone purfling.
Deze Bourgeois D beschikt over een groot klankgat, en dit geeft de gitaar een geheel eigen karakter. Doordat er meer lucht in en uit de gitaar gaat worden alle tonale eigenschappen uitvergroot; de gitaar beschikt over meer lage tonen, helderheid, respons en volume dan een reguliere dreadnought.
Hij heeft wat lichte speelsporen op de klankkast en het bovenblad en er is een LR Baggs Anthem pickup ingebouwd. Verder ziet deze dreadnought er ontzettend schoon uit en verkeert daarom ook in excellente conditie.
