Deze ES175 uit 1968 is een stijlvolle verschijning die zich bij uitstek leent voor jazz. Uitgevoerd in een 'ebony' afwerking en voorzien van twee humbuckers.
Gibson ES175 Ebony 1968
De ES175 werd in 1949 door Gibson geïntroduceerd als het meer betaalbare alternatief voor de duurdere gitaren uit het assortiment, zoals de L4. De gitaar werd uitgerust met een gelamineerde klankkast die voorzien is van een 'florentine cutaway'. Door deze constructie is de gitaar lichter en beter bestand tegen feedback, die bij de gitaren met een massieve klankkast makkelijker kon ontstaan.
Deze ES175 verliet in 1968 de fabriek in Kalamazoo als een zogenaamde 'Factory Second'. Uitgerust met een dekkende 'ebony'-afwerking en een crèmekleurige binding op zowel de body als de hals resulteert dit in een gitaar met een stijlvol uiterlijk. De twee humbuckers geven de gitaar een rijke variatie aan klanken, al is de ES175 een gitaar die bij uitstek excelleert op het gebied van jazz. De gitaar is hierom ook uitgerust met een set 'flatwound'-snaren.
De gitaar heeft gebruikssporen die te verwachten zijn bij een gitaar van deze leeftijd. De lak heeft op de gehele body en hals lichte craquelé, maar is nog wel volledig intact. De body heeft verder geen cracks in het hout. De gitaar is voorzien van de originele stemmechanieken, maar deze zijn in de loop van het bestaan van deze gitaar vervangen geweest. Dit heeft op de kop enkele sporen nagelaten. De gitaar is echter goed bespeelbaar en verkeert in zeer goede staat. Wordt geleverd in een koffer.

The guitar was equipped with a laminated body with a florentine cutaway. This construction makes the guitar lighter and more resistant to feedback, which could easily arise with guitars with a body made from solid wood.
This ES175 left the factory in Kalamazoo in 1968 as a so-called Factory Second. Equipped with an opaque ebony finish and cream binding on both the body and neck, this results in a guitar with a stylish appearance. The two humbuckers give the guitar a rich variety of sounds, although the ES175 is a guitar that excels in the field of jazz. The guitar is therefore also equipped with a set of flatwound strings.
The guitar has signs of wear that are to be expected from a guitar of this age. The lacquer has light weather checking on the entire body and neck, but it is still fully intact. The body has no cracks in the wood. The guitar is fitted with it's original tuners, but these have been replaced in the course of the guitar's existence. This has left some marks on the headstock. However, the guitar is perfectly playable and is in very good condition. Comes in a hardshell case.
