De Builder's Edition 816ce, de eerste gitaar met Taylor's geüpdatete Grand Symphony body-vorm, introduceert een frisse klank en stijl in de Taylor-lijn.
Gemaakt met massief Indisch palissander achter- en zijkanten, een Lutz sparren bovenblad en V-Class bracing, heeft deze akoestisch-elektrische gitaar een soundport cutaway, die de achterkant van de gitaar intact laat voor maximale resonantie terwijl het geluid zich kan verspreiden in een meeslepende, 'wide-angle' manier. Het resultaat is een surround-sound-ervaring die wordt gekenmerkt door een warme, sprankelende toon die de helderheid en kracht in evenwicht houdt, een die zowel solo als in grotere groepen presteert.
