De OM-21 is onderdeel van de Martin Standard line-up en een iconisch model voor Martin. Daarmee blijft de bouw trouw aan een van de eerdere ontwerpen van de gitaar. Ze heeft de brug en toets van ebbenhout, scalloped X bracing, en de hals is 44,5 mm of 1 3/4" breed. De OM-21 is een een comfortabele gitaar voor degenen die niet een grote body willen, maar wel een grote sound.Â
Andere kenmerken omvatten een comfortabele C-halsprofiel, Indisch palissander achter- en zijkanten, Sitka sparren bovenblad. Allemaal uiteraard van massief hout. Mahonie hals, tortoise-stijl bindingen, een fraaie slagplaat, benen topkam, gecompenseerd zadel, vintage stijl stemmechaniek, oude stijl C.F. Martin logo en nitrocellulose lak. Kortom een zeer veelzijdig en hoogwaardig instrument, uitstekend geschikt voor fingerstyle maar veelzijdig genoeg om te gebruiken voor bijna elke stijl van het spelen van tokkelen tot flatpicking en strumming.
