Gibson begon in de 19de eeuw met het maken van wat uiteindelijk 's werelds meest geliefde mandolines zijn. Eastman nam de uitdaging aan om de specialistische mandocello te recreëren en het resultaat mag er meer dan zijn.
Eastman MDC804 Mandocello
De Mandocello is geen instrument dat je heel vaak ziet, in tegenstelling tot haar kleinere broertje. De mandolinefamilie is uitgevonden in de barokke periode en wordt vooral gebruikt door populaire Italiaanse spelers. De instrumenten verdwenen een tijdje totdat de Gouden Eeuw van de mandolines begon in de 19e eeuw. Gibson begon toen met het maken van mandolines en -cello's met een 'arched' boven- en achterblad, en werd een van de meest gerenommeerde bouwers van mandoline instrumenten. Eastman nam de uitdaging aan om deze specialistische instrumenten te recreëren te maken en het resultaat mag er meer dan zijn.
De klankkast is gemaakt van sterk gevlamde esdoorn, met een sparrenhouten bovenblad en gecombineerd met een esdoorn hals, wat resulteert in een warme, sterke & zachte klank met een uitstekende projectie heeft. Hoewel ze gebaseerd is op de latere Gibson-versie van de mandocello, heeft Eastman met een eigen, uniek ontwerp ervoor gezorgd dat ze ook Barok-achtige cello-stukken met overtuiging kan brengen.Â
The Mandocello isn't an instrument that you see very often, unlike it's smaller brother. The mandolin family was invented in the Baroque period and the mostly used by popular Italian players. The instruments disappeared for a while until the Golden Era of mandolins began in the 19th centurey. Gibson started making mandolins en -cellos with arched backs and tops and became one of the most renowned builders of mandolin instruments. Eastman took on the challenge of recreating these specialty instruments and definitely outdid themselves.
The body is made of highly flamed maple back and sides, paired with a spruce top and a maple neck, which results in warm, strong & mellow tone that has excellent projection. Although she is based on the later Gibson-version of the mandocello, Eastman made sure to include there own unique body design, which means she can tackle Baroque-esqe cello pieces as well.
