Martin 1-21 12-Fret Parlor 1867-1898
Style 21 vindt zijn oorsprong in de jaren 1850 en size 1 was in de rest van de 19e eeuw een populair model. Tegenwoordig zijn deze gitaren niet gemakkelijk te dateren, maar we hebben het kunnen traceren tot de periode 1867-1898.
In 1867 veranderde de stempel op de center strip in de klankkast naar 'C.F. Martin & Co., New York'. Deze stempel is te vinden op de center strip en neck block in deze gitaar, wat betekent dat het een gitaar van na 1867 is. Verder geven de palissander binding en herringbone rozet aan dat hij waarschijnlijk dichter bij de jaren 1890s ligt.
Een ding dat wel absoluut zeker is, is dat hij meer dan 120 jaar oud is en dat hij de afgelopen eeuw niet ongeschonden door de strijd is gekomen. Hij heeft een nieuwere brug gekregen en de V-vormige cederhals heeft een refret gehad. Er zijn verschillende cracks te vinden op het sparren bovenblad, drie cracks aan de zijkanten en één aan de achterkant van de body, die beide zijn gemaakt van Braziliaans palissander. Dit maakt de conditie ook 'fair'.

This stamp can be found on the center strip and neck block inside this guitar, which means it is a post-1867 guitar. Furthermore, the rosewood binding and herringbone rosette indicate that it is likely closer to the 1890s.
One thing that is absolutely certain, is that it's over 120 years old and that it has had quite the ride the last century. It has gotten a newer bridge and the V-shaped cedar neck has had a refret. Several cracks can be found on the spruce top, and three cracks on the sides and one on the back, which are both made of Brazilian rosewood. This also makes the condition 'fair'.
