Zo wordt het sparrenhout voor de top lokaal gewonnen uit het noorden van Italië, de plaats ook de oude meesterbouwers als Stradivari en Guarneri hun hout vandaan haalden. Voor de overige onderdelen van de gitaar worden meer exotische houtsoorten als ziricote, Maleisisch blackwood, mahonie en Afrikaans ebben gebruikt. Hierdoor zijn de gitaren van Thomas ook een lust voor het oog.
Voor de constructie van de gitaren worden zowel inventieve als traditionele methoden gehanteerd. Zo heeft elk model zijn eigen type bracing voor een optimale klank. De halzen worden daarentegen volgens de beproefde Spaanse methode gemaakt om ongewenste spanning in het instrument te elimineren. Dit resulteert in een zeer stabiele en makkelijk te bespelen gitaar.
De SJ50 bevindt zich qua formaat tussen een OM en een Jumbo, en heeft een diepe bas en heldere hoge tonen. Het volume en de projectie zijn krachtig met een goede sustain. De gitaar heeft lichte speelsporen op het bovenblad en de achterzijde van de klankkast, met daarbij ook enkele kleine dings op het bovenblad. De gitaar is desalniettemin zeer schoon en is zonder twijfel een instrument van absolute topkwaliteit!
De gitaar wordt met echtheidscertificaat geleverd in een Hiscox koffer.
For example, the spruce wood for the top is locally sourced from northern Italy, the place where old master builders such as Stradivari and Guarneri also sourced their wood. More exotic types of wood such as ziricote, Malaysian blackwood, mahogany and African ebony are used for the other parts of the guitar. This also makes Thomas guitars a feast for the eyes.
Both inventive and traditional methods are used for the construction of the guitars. For example, each model has its own type of bracing for an optimal sound. The necks, on the other hand, are made according to the proven Spanish method to eliminate unwanted tension in the instrument. This results in a very stable and easy to play guitar.
The SJ50 is somewhere between an OM and a Jumbo in terms of size, and has a deep bass and clear high tones. The volume and projection are powerful with good sustain. The guitar has light playwear on the top and the back of the sound box, with also some small dings on the top. The guitar is nevertheless very clean and is without a doubt an instrument of absolute top quality!
The guitar comes with a certificate of authenticity in a Hiscox hardshell case.
So stammt beispielsweise das Fichtenholz für die Decke aus Norditalien, wo auch alte Meister wie Stradivari und Guarneri ihr Holz bezogen. Für die übrigen Teile der Gitarre werden exotischere Hölzer wie Zirikote, malaysisches Blackwood, Mahagoni und afrikanisches Ebenholz verwendet. Das macht Thomas-Gitarren auch optisch zu einer wahren Augenweide.
Für den Bau der Gitarren werden sowohl innovative als auch traditionelle Methoden verwendet. So verfügt beispielsweise jedes Modell über eine eigene Verstrebung für optimalen Klang. Die Hälse hingegen werden nach der bewährten spanischen Methode gefertigt, um unerwünschte Spannungen im Instrument zu vermeiden. Das Ergebnis ist eine sehr stabile und leicht zu spielende Gitarre.
Die SJ50 liegt größenmäßig zwischen einer OM und einer Jumbo und verfügt über einen tiefen Bass und klare Höhen. Volumen und Projektion sind kraftvoll und das Sustain ist gut. Die Gitarre weist leichte Spielspuren an der Decke und der Rückseite des Resonanzkörpers sowie einige kleine Dellen auf der Decke auf. Dennoch ist die Gitarre sehr sauber und zweifellos ein Instrument von absoluter Spitzenqualität!
Die Gitarre wird mit einem Echtheitszertifikat in einem Hiscox-Hartschalenkoffer geliefert.
